Walking On Wooden Trail

CHARITY WALK

2026

12 JUNE 2026 | 98.2 miles. As a nation.
One mile for every 10,000 people living with dementia
in the UK.

Eight regions.

One day. One purpose.

Walking for the 982,000.

On 12th June 2026, organisations across the UK will lace up their boots and walk together - in their own regions, for the same cause. This is what collective action looks like.

HOW IT STARTED

Last year, we walked fifteen miles along the Thames. This year, we're walking the length of a nation.

In June 2025, a group of Collaboration Network Members and colleagues set off from Richmond, followed the Thames path all the way to Victoria - 24km through London - and raised funds for the Alzheimer's Society along the way. There were wild deer. A briefly lost phone. The warm temptation of riverside pubs on a very hot day. And a team that arrived at the finish line closer than when they started.

It was one walk. It proved the idea worked.

For 2026, we asked: what if everyone could walk, wherever they are? The answer is eight simultaneous regional walks on the same day - each one 12.3 miles, each one led by a Member organisation, each one raising money for the same cause.

Because vulnerability doesn't stop at the M25. Neither should we.

After the 2025 Charity Walk

We came across wild deer, saw many bridges, temporarily lost
a phone, survived a brief stumble, avoided the temptation of all
the lovely pubs (well, most of them) as we followed the Thames path from Richmond to Victoria on a very hot and sweaty day.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED

Simple steps. Significant impact.

Vulnerability Week isn't something you watch from a distance - it's something you do. Whether you're a household name or a team of five, there's a place for your organisation this week.

THE EIGHT REGIONS

Wherever you are, there's a walk for you.

Last year we walked fifteen miles along the Thames. This year, we're walking the length of a nation. On 12th June, eight regional walks will take place simultaneously across the UK - each covering 12.3 miles, each led by a Member of the Collaboration Network, each raising funds for the Alzheimer's Society.

OUR REGIONAL WALK LEADERS

These organisations are making it happen.

Leading a regional walk across 12.3 miles takes real commitment - and these eight Member organisations have stepped up without hesitation. They've taken on the planning, the routes, the logistics, and the local coordination so that when 12 June arrives, all you need to do is show up, lace up, and walk.

We think that deserves to be said out loud. These aren't just participating organisations - they're champions. Each one has chosen to carry the cause in their corner of the country, rallying their colleagues, their networks and their communities around something that genuinely matters. We're proud to walk alongside every single one of them.

YOUR FUNDRAISING MATTERS

Every step. Every pound. Every person.

We're walking to raise funds for the Alzheimer's Society - the UK's leading dementia charity. Here's what your fundraising directly makes possible for people and families living with dementia right now.

Every walker gets an Alzheimer’s Society t-shirt

It's become a tradition - and this year is no different. Every registered walker across all eight regions will receive an Alzheimer’s Society t-shirt to wear on the day. It's how we make 98.2 miles in eight different places feel like one walk together.

FUNDRAISING PAGES

Your personalised fundraising page is waiting.

Each region has its own JustGiving team page, helping us build momentum locally while contributing to something bigger together.

Once you’ve registered, you’ll be connected with your regional lead, who will share your team’s fundraising link and support you in getting started. If you’d prefer to jump straight in - or simply want to make a donation - you can also access your region’s page directly below.

Setting up your own personalised fundraising page makes a real difference. Pages with a name, a short message about why you’re walking, and even a simple photo consistently raise more - often doubling the impact in just a few minutes.

Every donation - however small - goes directly to the Alzheimer’s Society. And every page shared helps bring this cause to people who may not have come across it otherwise.

OUR CHOSEN CHARITY

Walking for Alzheimer's Society

Alzheimer's Society is the UK's leading dementia charity. They exist to ensure that life doesn't end when dementia begins - providing care, driving research, and campaigning for a world where people affected by dementia are supported to live as well as possible.

We've chosen to walk for them because dementia sits at the heart of the vulnerability conversation. It affects 982,000 people in the UK right now. It touches families, carers, colleagues, and communities. And it's a cause that connects directly to why every organisation in our network does this work.

At the Vulnerability Summit in 2025, Alzheimer's Society joined us to speak about creating the UK's first dementia-friendly contact centre - a session that stopped the room. This walk is a continuation of that partnership.

CARE & SUPPORT

Funding vital helplines, local support groups, and one-to-one Dementia Adviser services for people and families navigating diagnosis and beyond.

RESEARCH

Driving breakthroughs in how dementia is understood, diagnosed and treated - so that future generations face a very different picture.

CAMPAIGNING

Influencing government policy and health services to improve dementia care across the UK - ensuring that people's rights and needs are heard at the highest levels.

THE NUMBER BEHIND THE WALK

982,000 people. 98.2 miles. One mile for every 10,000 people living with dementia in the UK. That's why we chose 12.3 miles per region. That's why this year, we go national.
